Trowell Renewal Project Latest:
March 2019: St Helen's Church renewal work is now complete and settled in.
When this was started the Committee agreed that any monies we managed to save could go to help local good causes. We have now managed to reclaim the VAT from the first stage of this so we are giving £1000 to Trowell Preschool for needed new play equipment and the church hall has had some windows replaced which will benefit all users.
Important Announcement from our Rector
After nearly 13 years here I will be leaving Trowell, Awsworth and Cossall in the summer. I am to take up the post of priest-in-charge of Didcot All Saint's Parish and Bishop's Advisor for Didcot Garden Town in Oxford Diocese.
This involves being vicar of All Saint's and overseeing a Church Plant in the Ladygrove Estate and a Fresh Expression in the new Great Western Park estate, which both have their own ministers. Didcot is due to grow by an extra 15,000 houses and so I will also be exploring with churches in the area what mission will mean in this context. Debbie is looking forward to exploring missional ministry in the area and Simeon will be looking at a new school. Peter and Hannah, as you know, have work and University opportunities ahead of them too.
After going through so much with you it is hard to contemplate leaving, although it seems the right time and the Lord has been clearly leading. We can trust the Lord's grace as we step out in new ventures of faith. Our last Sunday will be 28th July and we will move over the summer in order to start on the 10th September.
Having seen many changes, growth and challenges together I'm sure the Lord has more in store here for Trowell, Cossall & Awsworth. Plenty of details will need working through! It is always a risk to change and we are feeling quite emotional at times. Yet we have a God who leads us on as we continue to walk with Jesus by the Spirit in community.
May the Lord guide us close to His heart through the months ahead. Thank you for all your care, support, prayers and ministry together.
